We can hardly contain our excitement and we can’t wait to share this moment with all of you!
All year long, our students have been working at putting together their message, finding their voice and composing shorts, films, animations and public service announcements that raise awareness of dating and domestic violence in our communities. We have 4 short films to show this year and will be presenting them on June 4 from 6 – 10 pm at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park. The screening begins at 7, so don’t be late.
The first film we will show is from our continuing education students, who took on the difficult task of creating a short survivor story documentary is association with the San Diego Family Justice Center. Those same girls will also have a short testimonial piece about the importance of raising domestic violence awareness amongst teens. We will also have a vignette of really impressive segments made my elementary school students who take part in our Summer camps. To top off the evening, the fantastic stop-motion PSA made by the girls at Montgomery Middle School will play. Our films will be complimented by a fantastic selection of some of the best youth made films and animations from around the world through our partnership with the Reel Youth Film Festival.
To get tickets, simply head here and purchase them. You can also buy tickets for $25 at the door.
We will be holding a silent auction that will go a long way towards meeting our fundraising goals for the coming year and will have a great selection of gourmet coffee, snacks and desserts from our sponsors and supporters.
All of us at Animate A Way and all of the student filmmakers can’t wait to meet you there!
